Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is twofold. The main effort is to continue the discussion of the many-body theory which was started by Schrieffer in Chapter 21 of this volume. Following this a particular example of a many-body effect will be given. This example occurs in metal-semiconductor (Schottky) tunneling, and arises from the electron-phonon interaction.
