Abstract

The title of this paper is not intended to suggest a discussion in opposition to the main theme of “Instrumentation Requirements in Traffic Control Systems,” but rather to focus attention on the compelling need to provide adjunct regulations and traffic control devices to achieve maximum efficiency in the use of electronic controls and other sophisticated instruments to guide vehicular flow: In addition, the significance of obtaining public support for traffic control programs, using reasonably uniform traffic control devices, and adopting reasonably uniform traffic laws and ordinances cannot be minimized
