Abstract

The diffusion coefficients of the dissolved substances enter into Eqs. (1.9) and (1.17). Consequently, diffusion plays a fundamental role in the heterogeneous processes of geochemical migration. In the following chapters we shall examine the effect of diffusion on the range of geochemical migration (Chaps. 2, 6, and 7) and on the rate of interaction between the dissolved substance and the rock (Chaps. 4 and 5).
