The Hamiltonian and the Equations of Motion. Expression of the Complex Polarizability in Terms of Retarded Green’s Functions
In this paper, we shall consider only those infrared dispersion and absorption effects which are not due to deformation of the electron shells of the ions during their vibrations. Such effects have been quite fully discussed in [11, 16, 32], and we shall therefore regard the ions as rigid.
