The Spectrum of Normal Modes of Vibration in Crystals of Perovskite Type

Abstract

According to the dynamical theory of crystal lattices developed by Born [61], the vibrations of a lattice which have a wave vector y which is almost zero are vibrations of appropriate sublattices, the number of these depending on the number of atoms in the unit cell. Since it will be necessary later to make use of certain consequences of this statement, they will be briefly derived here.
