Abstract

Spectroscopy involves the measurement of the absorption and emission of radiation by atoms and molecules and the interpretation of these studies in order to gain information about the structure or concentration of the species interacting with the radiation. Spectroscopic techniques have developed dramatically in the past forty years and have facilitated great advances in both the physical and biological sciences.
