Intersubband Carrier Scattering in Multiple Quantum well Structures

Abstract

Carrier transport and carrier relaxation in semiconductors are determined by several scattering mechanisms. A mechanism specific for heterostructures is the scattering between the subbands which are generated by carrier confinement in the layers. Intersubband scattering is also of importance for the performance of infrared detectors and modulators based on quantum well structures.
