Abstract

We have used Doppler-free two-photon spectroscopy of hydrogen Rydberg states to perform a measurement of the Rydberg constant which is the most precise one at the present time [1]. We briefly survey here the methods which have been chosen by various groups to measure this constant during the few past years, and we detail the experimental arrangement which has allowed us to obtain our result.
