Abstract

Ribonucleoside diphosphate reductase (EC 1.17.4.1) catalyzes the reduction of ribonucleoside diphosphates to their deoxyribonucleotide counterparts for DNA synthesis (1). The mammalian enzyme Is composed of two subunits: the M1 protein has binding sites that are Involved In the complex allosteric feedback control of the enzyme (2,3); whereas, the M2 subunit contains the free radical binding site of hydroxyurea (4,5).
