Abstract
Children are not immune to stress and stress related illnesses. Psychosomatic disease, behavior disorders, and exacerbation of learning disabilities and organic disease such as epilepsy and diabetes may all be stress related in children. This paper describes the use of biofeedback training and adjunctive techniques in the treatment of these disorders in children, in a clinical setting. The treatment goal is psychophysiological self-regulation through relaxation and stress management, self-image, and cognitive change.
