Spinwaves in the Pseudo 1-d Ferromagnetic RbFeCl3

Abstract

We have measured by means of neutron inelastic scattering the spin-wave dispersion in the pseudo 1-d ferromagnet RbFeCl3 at T = 1.5 K. The observed dispersion in the hexagonal plane is found to disagree both with the planar triangular magnetic structure and with the small interchain exchange previously assumed. A new model with conical structure (θ = 54°) and Spin Hamiltonian parameters J = 4.2 K J’ = −1.2 K D* = 8 K is proposed.
