Abstract

Magnetic field perturbations and Faraday voltage reductions in a high velocity ionizing shock wave transiting a magnetic field were investigated both experimentally and theoretically. Laboratory simulations using metal rods were carried out to R m = 500, and an exact solution of the linear (unchoked) MHD equations were developed for two-dimensional shock tube geometry.
