Introductory Remarks

Part of the Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology book series (AEMB, volume 118)

By title, this second session is concerned with substrates for viral vaccines and, more specifically, with cell culture substrates rather than embryonated eggs or CNS tissue from intact hosts. However, except for Dr. Netter who provided a review of recommendations and WHO requirements for producing inactivated viral vaccines in diploid cell lines, the speakers extended the scope of their presentations substantially beyond that defined by the session title.
