Pheromone and Host Odor Perception in Bark Beetles

  • Chapter

Abstract

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in olfactory perception in insects. This has primarily been because of the identification of pheromones. However, more recently the interest in olfactory perception results from investigations on the potential use of behavioral chemicals in pest management. In this light, bark beetles (Coleoptera: Scolytidae) are unique and challenging subjects for study.
