Abstract
Arsenophobia has held sway over civilized governments throughout this century. Because of the still unproven association between arsenic (As) and cause of cancer, arsenophobia has gained strength to the point that many safe uses of arsenicals have been abandoned. Even the production of arsenic trioxide (AS2O3) is in jeopardy. No arsenical has been shown to cause cancer, but arsenicals have proven anticancer value. Evidence suggests that As is an essential nutrient and that the level of As in the United States’ and Canadian diets may be too low. Due to the long history of errors in judgment about “arsenic” and the strength of the traditional dogmas, there are many problems to be solved; hence, the above title.
