Abstract

In this wettest of all vegetational zones, a month with less than 100 mm of rain is considered to be relatively dry. Only in Malaya and Indonesia are there large areas in which the monthly rainfall does not fall below 100 mm, whereas in the Amazon basin there is merely a small area on the Rio Negro. A short dry season invariably occurs in India and is observable in most years in the Congo basin (Fig. 20).
