Abstract

Postoperative care has evolved over the years into a scientific method of maintaining desirable physiologic states or changing abnormal states. Several excellent handbooks of postoperative care are available.2,11,23 This chapter discusses our routine postoperative monitoring and therapy and reviews common problems occurring in the postoperative period, with an outline of our therapies.
