Abstract
In Chapter 3, we mentioned that the behavioural phenotype of an animal was the joint product of its genes and life-time development. While we have illustrated the role of genes in shaping behaviour, we have not yet considered the effects of experience and development, nor the way these interact with genes to produce behaviour. In this chapter we shall examine these effects.
