Abstract
To get started with Mosaic for Windows, you should first check out your PC’s configuration. There are various flavors of the PC version of Mosaic available from the NCSA FTP site and from commercial providers. They all require MS-Windows (no DOS version is available yet). The two main variations of Mosaic for Windows are 16-bit and 32-bit. Standard Windows 3.1 and Windows for Workgroups work in 16-bit mode, as does most Windows programs. The 32-bit Mosaic is for use with Windows NT primarily, although you can run it without NT under Windows 3.1 by using a Win32 subsystem available free from Microsoft (at ftp.microsoft.com).
