Abstract
In the previous two chapters, studies are reported that illustrate different approaches to training counselors and students in empathy. However, neither concerns the supervisory process. Yet, the counseling/psychotherapy field assumes that it is the face-to-face supervision encounter that is extremely important in learning skills and attitudes—probably more important than initial skill acquisition in isolation.
