Abstract

Onychomycosis is one of the most common nail disorders seen by dermatologists.19 Worldwide, the number of organisms that have been reported as capable of directly invading the nail and causing onychomycosis is increasing annually. This trend is likely to continue, given the growing number of elderly, the increasing use of potent antibacterial and chemo therapeutic agents, and the growing population of immunocompromised or immunosuppressed patients.
