Abstract
Inhibitors of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE, dipeptidyl carboxy-peptidase; E.C. 3.4.15.1) are being widely used as therapeutic means of hypertension. In spite of their usefulness, there remain many things to be understood with regard to their pharmacological actions. Previously, we demonstrated that use of an ACE inhibitor foroxymithine, which was discovered in our institute, caused such peculiar oscillations of plasma ACE levels as cannot be explained by its actions in vitro and thus suggested that the concept of feedback regulation has to be introduced for explaining such a phenomenon in vivo.l In the present study we tried to apply a new technique of feedback analysis utilizing autoregressive modelling2-5 for solving this important problem. Although studies were done on various inhibitors including Captopril, histargin and pepstatin, only the data of foroxymithine are presented in this paper. The remaining parts are to be reported elsewhere.
