Abstract

A converting enzyme inhibitor should theoretically block all the actions of angiotensin II and simultaneously enhance those of kinins. It must, therefore, be beneficial when used in pathological situations where the range of these actions has become deranged, as seen in many types of hypertension and in congestive heart failure. Some side effects may also appear if it is used improperly (Figure 1).
