Abstract

A major bioelectrochemical research area during the last fifteen years has been the investigation of direct electron transfer reactions of redox proteins at electrode surfaces. Mercury electrode studies1–4 pioneered the early years of this period during the 1970’s. The last ten years have witnessed a substantial emphasis on reactions at solid electrodes since key reports appeared in 19775–7. Several reviews of the field have been published8–10.
