Part of the book series: Materials Science Research ((MSR,volume 19))

Abstract

The alkali metal halides possess the NaCl structure under ambient conditions of temperature and pressure (O 5h , Fm3m with Z = 1). No activity is observed in the first-order Raman spectrum, but an F1u mode (triply degenerate) is observed in the far infrared region.
