Abstract
Vascular wilt is the most serious oil palm disease in Africa. The fungus responsible, which develops in the xylem, is Fusarium oxysporum f.sp, elaeidis. In the ten years following planting, 50 percent of the trees can be affected in certain zones, damage being much greater in replanting than in extension to new areas.
