Recent Studies on Antibiotics and Low Molecular Weight Enzyme Inhibitors

Abstract

Continuous progress is being made in antibiotic research in the areas of their genetics, biosyntheses, chemical syntheses, and mechanisms of action, as well as in the development of new Chemother a peutic agents. About 12 years ago, the study of low MW inhibitors of various enzymes was started; and the results indicated that microorganisms produced not only antibiotics but also compounds with varying structures which have various biological, pharmacological, or medical activities. In this paper, I will review recent studies on low MW enzyme inhibitors and antibiotics.
