Abstract

The symbiosis of a D-T fusion reactor with a converter fission reactor introduces fuel cycle characteristics which are substantially different from those of a spallation-fission symbiont: both fusion and fission reactors may be directly linked to fissile and to f usile fuel production. Furthermore, the fusile isotope tritium is radioactive, which affects fuel stockpiling for an expanding symbiont economy. The resultant fuel trajectory analysis is therefore expected to be more complex. We derive and examine here the two fuel trajectories, making full use of the stockpile inventory concept.
