Abstract
The production of neutrons by high-energy protons has been described in previous chapters. Our intent now is to establish an analytical framework for a synergetic nuclear energy system consisting of a spallation accelerator integrated with a companion fission reactor. In keeping with our chosen focus of analysis, we emphasize primarily the nuclear fuel and power balances.
