Abstract
One definition of module is “any series of standardized units for use together” (Webster’s Dictionary, 1979, p. 733). The Gerontology Program has developed treatment modules which conform to this definition. An interrelated set of behavioral skills is taught as a standard unit. This constitutes a module and is used with other standardized units to form an integrated program. Every module is self-contained, but each is complementary in content and method to the other modules so that the total of the components used together, within a compatible daily environment, provides a relatively comprehensive program designed to increase the independence of the elderly clients. As explained in the previous chapter, behavioral technology is used in the module for teaching and/or reteaching skills.
