Abstract
A number of pharmacological substances are known to affect the rate of gastric secretions. However, little is known about the action of such substances upon the production of mucus, that is upon the glycoprotein content of such secretions. Accordingly the effects of insulin and pentagastrin have been studied upon the volume and mucus glycoprotein content of gastric secretions from normal human subjects.
