Abstract

Aging is a poorly understood phenomenon, both physiologically and psychosocially. Our ignorance reflects our youth-oriented society and its massive avoidance of the subject of aging and death. It accounts for the persistence of the many myths, prejudices, and stereotypes associated with the aging process.
