Abstract

The safety requirements of nuclear power plants are completely different from those of conventional power plants. Safety regulations have been established to account for these requirements. This has led to an increase of the amount of instrumentation installed in nuclear power plants, which as a further consequence enlarged the amount of information available for the operators in the control room to such an extent that in case of disturbances the operators may be overloaded, a problem of man-machine-communication.
