Abstract
This chapter is perhaps more technical in detail than the other parts of this text. The objective for the reader, however, is not to become enmeshed in the detail, but to comprehend several important concepts. Namely, what determines how fast information can be transmitted over a communication channel? To understand this, it is necessary to have a clear idea of frequency and bandwidth. Frequency and bandwidth, in turn, lead to the concept of a band(width)-limited signal.
