Abstract

Benzbromarone is a potent uricosuric drug with a rapid onset and relatively long duration of action. It belongs to a new class of antihyperuricemic compounds and has the following structural formula and name:

3- (3,5-dibromo-4-hydroxybenzoyl) — 2 — ethylbenzofuran
