Purine Metabolism in Man-III

Part of the book series: Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology ((AEMB,volume 122A))

Abstract

In 1966, the chemical analysis of a vesical calculus extracted from V.Y. (11-7) showed to be composed of 94% xanthine, 4% hypoxanthine and 2% other substances, principally calcium phosphate. As a result, a biochemical study of the purine metabolism in blood and urine was carried out, revealing a new case of xanthinuria with xanthine lithiasis.
