Abstract

The art and science of medicine have advanced greatly over the past several decades. Its technology is sophisticated and often awe-inspiring. Faulty body parts can be mended or replaced at costs that are not prohibitive. Prevention and rehabilitation are at the point where certain illnesses are almost nonexistent.
