  • Chapter
Language Interpretation and Communication

Part of the book series: NATO Conference Series ((HF,volume 6))

Abstract

The history of the relationship between linguistics and translation is a long and rich one. Many books have been written on the subject by linguists, and the study of translation has enriched theories of language in many ways. Roman Jakobson’s article “On linguistic aspects of translation” (1966) for instance, is very well-known among translators as well as linguists.
