Abstract

One very obvious manifestation of aging is a generalized decrease in vitality. This change can be quantitated, at least in part, in the form of ability to respond biochemically to various stimuli (for reviews see Adelman, 1972; Roth and Adelman, 1974; Gusseck, 1972). Many responses of this type directly involve or are mediated by hormones (Roth and Adelman, 1974; Gusseck, 1972).
