Abstract
We have shown in a previous communication that hemopoietic liver cells from 17–19 old mouse embryos are capable of migration to thymus and bone marrow (l). Since a similar traffic pattern has been demonstrated for bone marrow cells (2) it seemed of interest to study the behavior of the embryonic cells in more detail, since the liver is a major source of hemopoietic elements during early embryonation and first days after birth in the mouse (3). Interest in these studies resided in the possibility that traffic to and from the thymus represented a true maturation process, leading to the production of immunocompetent cells.
