Solid Tumor Models for the Assessment of Different Treatment Modalities: VI: Perturbations in the Kinetics of Tumor and Host Organ Cellular Regulation Demonstrated by Single and Combined Experimental Therapy

Part of the book series: Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology ((AEMB,volume 92))

Abstract

The Morris hepatomas, the large series of over fifty different lines of transplantable rat hepatomas with multiple genetic, bio-chemical, metabolic and morphological changes, have been extensively used in cancer research. A correlation between tumor cell kinetics and tumor growth for this series of solid tumors was needed because many studies used tumor growth rates as reference points. The parameters of cell cycle time, growth fraction and cell loss factor, in addition to potential and actual volume doubling times, have been determined in nine Morris hepatomas.
