Abstract
The nervous system is the primary site of action of most insecticides. However, it is possible that the initial nervous impairment is insufficient to kill an insect. Damage to the nervous system is followed by other changes and the latter may have lethal consequences. Spiller (1955) and Jochum (1956) studying the way in which insecticides kill insects have implicated a chain of events following the initial attack on the nervous system.
