Abstract

Sir Rodney, Mr. Raven, Ladies and Gentlemen, it is a beautiful day in May and I think, rather like my illustrious namesake, I might be outside playing cricket rather than opening the innings in here. Nevertheless, here I am and much of my talk is the result of the teamwork of the Tumour Biology Group at Westminster Hospital, itself one of the evidences of advance. Instead of working in isolated groups, the surgeon in his operating theatre, the scientist in his laboratory, etc., we have a team which gets together, meets regularly and which crosses the frontiers of individual departments to achieve real co-ordination. This is one good thing that is growing in the oncological world of to-day.
