Abstract

My previous book, A Study of Brief Psychotherapy (1963), referred to in future by the initials SBP, was the result of working up the first twenty-one patients treated by a research team founded in 1955 by Michael Balint, whose aim was to examine from first principles the whole question of psychoanalytic brief psychotherapy.
