Abstract

The purpose of this laboratory manual is to introduce you to the techniques which are available for making use of the considerable capabilities of the laboratory computer in experimental science. Before we launch into a detailed discussion of experiments and methods required to make use of that technology, a brief consideration of some of the fundamental elements of the general-purpose computer and the historical development of its use in the laboratory is in order.
