Abstract

Most coastal states with a natural lobster population legally regulate the taking of these animals. Therefore, before launching a lobster research project, the state’s Department of Natural Resources should be consulted and the necessary permits secured for collecting and holding egg-bearing lobsters and holding sub-legal size lobsters, A commercial lobsterman will also need special permits to collect eggers for research.
