Abstract

The interactions between nucleotides and metal ions are of primary biological significance, the divalent metal ions playing a fundamental role in several biological reactions (1–5). Metal ions are in fact strongly involved in the action of nucleic acids and derivatives (1,2,4). Investigations of metal-nucleobase and -nucleoside interactions can offer significant contributions for understanding chemical equilibria and molecular dynamics of larger biocomplexes in solution.
