Abstract
The toxicity of phosphamidon and of its main metabolites, by-products, and formulations has been investigated by means of acute, subacute, and chronic toxicity tests on various vertebrate species in many parts of the world. Particular attention has been paid to acute oral, dermal, and inhalation toxicity testing in mammals, and to the effects of repeated dosing over long periods. Enzymatic and histopathologic investigations were also needed to clarify the mode of action. Special trials covering skin irritation, potentiation, and neurotoxicity provided additional information with regard to public health.
