Abstract

Adolescence in the human female usually is defined as that era of hfe that begins at the onset of puberty and ends when adulthood is reached. A recent study1 indicates that physical evidences of incipient puberty most commonly occur between 8.0 and 14.9 years and completion of such development is usually noted between 12.4 years and 16.8 years. Nubility may be defined as the status attained when sexual development is completed and the female is capable of procreation. Adulthood is somewhat more difficult to specifically define but usually may be considered to have been attained when nubility and a significant degree of psychologic maturity have been developed.
