Abstract

The oceanography of fjords, including fjord-ocean interaction, has recently been the subject of inceased scientific interest, and a number of papers dealing with the subject have appeared. The reader is referred to the articles compiled in Estuaries, edited by Lauff (1967), Hydrodynamics of Estuaries and Fjords, edited by Nihoul (1978), and Fjord Oceanography, edited by Freeland, Farmer, and Levings (1980). With particular reference to fjord-ocean interaction of Norwegian fjords, the reader will find relevant articles and recent documentation in the “Proceedings of a Symposium on the Norwegian Coastal Current,” edited by Saetre and Mork (1981).
